Worship Service and Activities Cancellation Notifications

In case we have to cancel or postpone worship services or other activities due to inclement weather, icing on the roads or in the church parking lots, we will try to get the word out to you as soon as we can, by several means of communication, including

Fellowship Dinner

Wednesday, March 11 – 6:30 p.m. Menu: Chicken and dumplings, tossed salad, apple pie and ice cream, rolls - $7 each. In order for us to plan properly for the Fellowship Dinner, we must know ahead of time how much food to prepare. Therefore, please make your reservations by Sunday, March 8; we will regretfully be unable to take reservations after this date. Sign up on the bulletin insert, call the church office at (804) 266-5341 or e-mail here.

FunRaisers Bag Lunches

Pick up after services on Sun., March 22. Menu: Two White House rolls with pimento and cheese, Jello salad, chips and dessert — $7. Sign up on the sheet in the narthex.  

Annual Easter Egg Hunt - Saturday, April 4 at 10 a.m.

Greenwood’s traditional neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt is coming and we need your help to:


Fill plastic Easter eggs with candy for the children. No hard candy, please. Pick up a couple dozen empty eggs in the narthex and return them filled by Friday, April 3.


Donate items for the UMCOR Health Kits we’ll have the children assemble. See the list in the narthex or in this month’s Twig Bender. 


Donate baked goods for the cake walk. Please bring your goodies to the Fellowship Hall by 9 a.m. on the morning of the hunt.  

Chocolate Easter Eggs  

Delicious, hand dipped, half pound, beautifully decorated chocolate Easter eggs, filled with Your choice of filling: peanut butter, coconut or cream; $4.50 each; order by March 22 using the form here.

Education Building Classroom Cleanup

We need to do a bit of work on the classrooms in the Education Building to make them more inviting. Join us next Saturday, March 7, at 9 a.m. right after Men’s Breakfast, to help us clean, organize and evaluate the classrooms.  

Vacation Bible School 2015  

We’ll hold a Vacation Bible School 2015 planning meeting on Tuesday, March 17 at 7 p.m. at Greenwood. All who want to contribute to this vital outreach ministry are welcome to come help plan this year’s VBS.  

Bishop’s Convocation on Prayer  

 March 21 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 903 Forest Ave. in Richmond. The convocation includes small group learning opportunities in the areas of prayer and Wesleyan spiritual disciplines. Both laity and clergy are invited to attend. There is a registration cost of $10 which includes lunch. Attendance is limited to 450, so register, before March 16, at the Conference website.
