Two Point Charge

Greenwood and Laurel Park United Methodist Churches are combined into what’s called a two point charge.

A charge is one or more churches to which an ordained or licensed minister is appointed as the “pastor in charge,” so Greenwood’s Rev. Dean Pittman is the pastor in charge of two churches – Greenwood and Laurel Park.

The two churches and their congregations remain separate entities. Greenwood and Laurel Park have separate membership rolls, buildings, worship services and committees. We do have a joint Staff, Pastor Parish Relations Committee (SPPRC) and a combined Charge Conference.

The churches share some functions, for example combined picnics.
