Meet The Team

Rev. Crystal R. Sygeel
Pastor

Rev. Crystal R. Sygeel (MDiv./MACE '96) comes to us after serving three years as Associate Director for Call and Candidacy in the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church.

 

She began her ministry as the first full-time chaplain appointed to United Methodist Family Services on Broad Street. From there she transferred to the Pacific Northwest Conference where she served three local churches including First UMC Seattle.

 

Upon her return to Virginia, Rev. Sygeel was appointed to her alma mater Union Presbyterian Seminary in communications, advancement, and ultimately in the president's office as Director of Hospitality Ministries.

 

She is delighted to return to local church ministry and is excited to be serving with the people of Greenwood United Methodist Church. 

Sophia Ritchie
Music Director

Ms. Ritchie has been playing piano since she was five years old. A trained church accompanist, she brings a wealth of experience while adding a youthful presence at Greenwood.

 

Ms. Ritchie directs the Greenwood Choir and collaborates with Pastor Crystal to shape services for Sunday and high holy days.

Lori Lohr
Communications Manager

Ms. Lohr has over 25 years of experience in identifying target audiences, setting goals for promotion, communication and public relations. Her skillset includes developing and implementing communications for non-profit organizations through print media,  press releases, website content, and social media. 


As a former Program Manager for the American Lung Association and former Education and Convention Planner for Professional Insurance Agents of Virginia & DC – a trade association for the insurance industry, Ms. Lohr has designed, marketed, and executed hundreds of special events including conventions, conferences, educational seminars, and board meetings.


In addition to serving as Greenwood's Communications Director, Ms. Lohr currently serves as the Public Relations and Communications Director for Aggie’s Attic Thrift Store, located in Henrico, VA.

Mr. McAllister has been a part of the Greenwood staff for decades. He is the chief custodian and takes care of both the sanctuary and education buildings. Mr. Allister maintains Greenwood’s facilities with loving care and expertise.
